The Rollin' Oldies Giant Jukebox

The Giant Jukebox Project is just pretty much what it says it is.  It's 8' tall and 6' wide and is mounted on it's own trailer that is used to take to our shows, cruise ins and any other events.  It will carry over 400 music selections from the 50s, 60s, 70, and 80s that people can choose to play for free from a 24" computer touch screen monitor on the front panel.  It also is our sound and PA system as well as a low powered FM broadcasting system that can be heard on car radios and boom boxes at our events.  It is going to resemble a 60s era Seeburg jukebox with lots of bling and sound active lighting.  As the project progresses pictures will be posted here on this page.  So far I have developed and demonstrated to the club the computer software and user interface that this unit will use.  This unit is also can to made available to other clubs and organizations that want to use it at their events for a reasonable donation to our club.

Below is a list of materials we are currently seeking though direct or cash donations.  If any one has material to donate or can get sponsors to donate cash or actual materials you can contact any club officer or e-mail me at rocc@pvpmedia.com or call me at 740-236-4007.

Materials needed

1.    Five 4 X 8 foot sheets of 3/4 inch exterior grade plywood with one good side

2.    Four 4 inch heavy duty casters, two fixed and two swivel type.

3.    Three 4 X 8 foot sheets of thin dark wood grain paneling, smooth with no saw lines

4.    One 5 X 6 foot sheet of 1/8 inch or thicker clear plexiglass or lexan.

5.    Four 10 foot long pieces of 1-1/2 inch by at least 1/16 inch thick extruded and anodized aluminum angle for exterior trim.

6.    Fifty old 12 inch 33RPM old worn out LP records

7.    One 2 X 4 foot piece of cracked ice texture plastic light diffuse like used in lay in fluorescent  light fixtures.

8.    Two 8 foot pieces of 3/4 inch by 1/16 inch thick extruded aluminum angle.

9.    One 4 X 8 foot piece of bright aluminum expanded screen with an approximate grid size of about 1/2 inch for      front speaker grille.

10.  One 4 X 8 foot piece of 16 GA. Or thinner bright embossed metal either gold or silver finish for interior background covering.

11.  Approximately 4 X 8 feet piece of speaker grille cloth,  preferably dark colored, black or charcoal.

11.  One 23 or 24 inch flat panel touch screen monitor

12.  Basic computer and keyboard.  I have this covered but we may need to find a better hard drive to hold all the music content.

13.     Dark wood grained countertop laminate for exterior sides and top of unit.

14.     There will also be a lot of misc. bits and pieces of hardware and electrical parts that I most likely can find for free.

15.      Trailer base parts should be planned and based on what is available.

I would like to add that we are looking for an older trailer we can modify to meet our needs,  We need it to be 6' wide inside and at least 8' long.  An older boat trailer with 14' or 15' wheels and a standard automotive wheel lug circle would be ideal for this project.  When we find something we will start looking for nice wheels and tires.
