OUR NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Our nation's infrastructure is going to hell in a hand basket. I'm sorry but it's the sad truth. The Bush administration has squandered untold billions of dollars on their misguided and unnecessary military adventurism in Iraq and Afghanistan and we have literally nothing to show for it other than thousands of dead and wounded and a national debt that our great grand children will be paying for. There have been many pieces written based on factual research that have pointed out what we could have done here with that money.
Our roads and bridges that provide a lifeline for our livelihood are a dismal state of disrepair. The bush administration and the Republicans in Congress have repeatedly turned a blind eye toward this situation. Only when there is a major catastrophe, like a bridge collapsing, do they pay any attention at all to this situation.
Our public buildings are falling apart. Our national monuments are crumbling. Our schools and hospitals are substandard and we need more of them. Our facilities for law and order are seriously lacking in almost every aspect. They have either let go of or tried to exploit out national park system.
It is beyond comprehension as to how and why we could let this administration get away with doing all this in just the past eight years. Nevertheless, it has happened. Unfortunately, the damage has been done and the only recourse we have, if we hope to save anything, is to start throwing the bums out of office and get our priorities in order. The McCain-Palin ticket has nothing to offer so far as a remedy is concerned. They only seem to indorse four to eight more years of the same.
