MORE PICS        DONOR VEHICLES        EXTRA STUFF

WORK PROGRESS        NEEDED

Down in the dungeon under my castle is the place where these devices of metal mayhem lurk, patiently waiting for their prey.

Bridgeport mill I rescued from an industrial surplus dealer in Euclid, Ohio, near Cleveland

Glass bead blasting cabinet.  Note cheap Shop Vac below...  I use it to keep a negative pressure on the cabinet which keeps it from blowing the fine glass bead media out every crack and crevice.

( Can you find a Ford part in this picture? )

Making a part on my Sebastian lather for my the 92 year old South Bend lathe below that I brought home in pieces.

The bed, headstock, drive gears, drive motor and carriage are done.  I still have to do the tailstock, crossslide, apron, steady rest and control console.  It's sure a heck of an improvement over what I started with.

SB lathe headstock in rebuilding stage.

SB lathe end view with all the gears  installed  and the 2 HP variable speed DC motor.

Flat belt step pulley I grooved to match the new Micro-Grove flat belt

The following pictures are of the lathe motor control console which control speed, direction and jog functions for the spindle drive and an optional lead screw drive motor which is used to obtain an extremely slow lead screw speed for finish work

40s vintage Sebastian gear head lathe.  It works great but it sure is ugly.  Maybe some day I'll re-do it...  Yeah right...

The following pictures are of the ancient pinch rolls I bought for scrap value and motorized with a 3 phase gearmotor I bought from HGR Industrial Surplus.

This thing will curve 14 GA. sheet metal up to 48" wide.  The control box is also s unit from HGR that I modified to control the motor

WELDING EQUIPMENT

A FAMILY HEIRLOOM

This is my dad's old welder he bought over forty years ago.  Needless to say, it has seen a lot of use.  I intend to see that my son is the next owner.  I have the Miller TIG unit sitting on top of it rigged to use with it.

You can definitely tell I'm old school when you look at this.  I just can't live without a gas hatchet.

These are my new babies, I call the the Twins,

MIG & TIG

Here's MIG

And here's

TIG

This is my new Thermal Dynamics plasma cutter

Here is the plasma cutter sitting in the bottom of a cart shared with my little Lincoln SP-170 MIG welder.

It's MILWAUKEE Time

When it comes to power tools , it's tough to beat Milwaukee. The circular saw is for cutting metal.  It has a special carbide tooth blade and it will cut stuff up to 7/8" thick.  The cut it makes is so smother you don't need a file.

MANKILLER

This is a 1956 vintage Black and Decker grinder.  It has been in the family for fifty years.  It has had at least five power cords and as many sets of brushes.  It still kicks ass.  Put a 9" disk on this thing and get ready for the ride of your life.  This thing was made when Black and Decker meant quality.

DRILLMOTORS

CHEAP TOOLS

Yeah, they came from HF.  I bought them because they don't get used that much.  So far they have performed better than I expected.

AIR TOOLS

GRINDERS

12 TON PRESS AND BENDER

FOLDING TWO TON ENGINE HOIST

One of the handiest pieces of equipment I ever had.

COMPRESOR

ROTARY PHASE CONVERTER

I designed and built this unit to produce three phase power in my shop.  It uses a three phase motor to generate the third phase leg.
